Continuing Dr. Konrad Friedrichs' tradition of high quality, Konrad Micro Drill offers rods in diameter ranges from φ 1 mm to φ 40 mm in various carbide grades. These grades were developed especially for application in the PCB area and for machining applications of carbon fiber-reinforced materials, titanium alloys, hardened steels, aluminum alloys and fiberglass-reinforced plastics. For several decades, the development of carbide in the PCB area was the forerunner for new grades of carbide, including automotive, aircraft and machinery construction. Through heavy expenditures in R&D Konrad Micro Drill is the leader in PCB-business area. New manufacturing procedures have been developed opening possibilities to manufacture high performance carbide of outstanding quality (uniform grain size structure, ultra-fine grain size, uniform cobalt distribution, increased toughness and hardness).

Leveraging its expertise in extrusion and extensive R&D capability, Konrad Micro Drill successfully brought rods with new carbide grades to the market. These new grades for drills with φ 0.05 mm, φ 0.10 mm, φ 0.15 mm as well as φ 0.2 to φ0.3 mm diameters enable manufacturing of tools with higher service life, resistance to wear and improved bending strength.
