Continuing the good traditional
established by Dr. Konrad Friedrichs, the newlyfounded
company, Konrad Micro Drill, offers rod blanks
made of high performance tungsten carbides and
ceramic blanks.
The basic philosophy behind all activities of
Konrad Micro Drill is not to manufacturer tools,
but to concentrate entirely on the production
of blanks for the manufacturer of tools. In
this way, Konrad Micro Drill will remain a completely
independent manufacturer of raw materials and
will not compete against its customers, the
toolmakers, which is the case with almost all
other raw material manufacturers.
With the exception of very coarse-grained grades
for mining operations, our range of products
covers almost all fields of application. For
example, we offer you the standard KFM 40 grade.
It is manufactured from tungsten carbide with
an average grain size of 0.6μm and achieves
an HV30 hardness of 1610 kg/mm2. this grade
is universally suitable for drilling and milling
titanium, steel and fiberglass reinforced plastic
in all types of machines.
The high performance KFM 44 grade with 0.5μm
grain size and an HV30 hardness of 1680 kg/mm2
is suitable for the drilling and milling of
titanium, steels, fiberglass reinforced plastics
and composite materials. It is also used successfully
for machine taps.
Our high performance KFM 309 grade for special
applications consists of 0.2μm tungsten carbide
and 9% cobalt and achieves an HV30 Hardness
of 1950 kg/mm2. This grade is used successfully
for work with Kevlar and graphite in addition
to the previously-mentioned applications. Furthermore,
KFM 309 is used with PCB-Routers with good results.
Our
grades for PCB applications continue with
KFM 407 and KFM 606 for routers as well
as KFM 308, KFM 208, KFM 407 and KFM 606
for drills. The PCB grades consist mostly
of a ultrafine tungsten carbide with an
average grain size of 0.2μm or 0.5μm and
were developed especially for high bending
strength and wear resistance.
Cutting knife blanks of grades KFM 40 and
KFM 44 round out our program. These products
consist of tungsten carbide with an average
grain size of 0.5μm and are characterized
by a high impact toughness . |
